Trent Baalke sells San Jose home for $3.1 million

That’s one headache removed for Trent Baalke, wherever he is.

Four months ago, the Los Angeles Times reported that former San Francisco 49ers general manager Trent Baalke had put his San Jose home on the market for $3.298 million. Well, it is now sold (h/t Bay Area News Group). According to Redfin, the home sold for $3.1 million.

Since his firing, Baalke has gone entirely off the radar. Money is likely not an issue, not only because of the sale of his house, but because the 49ers are paying him through the 2018 season. Baalke got a contract extension to line up his deal with then head coach Jim Tomsula.

Of course, Baalke has never struck me as someone overly concerned about money. He’s a grinder, and my guess is after taking some time off, he’ll join an NFL organization down the line. Back in December, Matt Maiocco reported that the Denver Broncos were a likely landing spot.

The change in the 49ers front office following Baalke’s departure has been pretty amazing. We have no idea how any of the draft picks and free agents are going, but from a pure PR perspective, it’s like night and day. As Chris Biderman pointed out, Baalke was a recluse at times, while John Lynch is entirely comfortable making regular radio and television appearances. Given Lynch’s work in television, this is not a surprise. And yet, given what little we got from Trent Baalke over the years, it’s an incredible difference.
