Looking back at our 1-90 49ers rankings a year later

The San Francisco 49ers 90-man roster is mostly set as the team heads into the second week of OTAs. The team could make one or two moves before training camp, but for the most part, the roster is just about set.

Last summer, I worked with the rest of the front page staff to rank out the entire roster. Each person ranked the roster 1-90, and we came up with an aggregate ranking. We’ll do the same thing later this summer, but in the meantime, I thought we could take a look back at the rankings from last season.

Two of the top ten players are gone, with Torrey Smith and Antoine Bethea getting their releases. Ian Williams was ranked No. 12, but there were already plenty of questions surrounding his ankle. He never played again and his football-playing future is uncertain.

Chris Davis was the lowest ranked player to make the 49ers roster last year. He ranked No. 71, but appeared set to have a significant nickel role before he injured his knee and went on injured reserve. Nick Bellore was next on the list, ranked No. 66. He was plenty busy last season, first on special teams, and then in the starting lineup after NaVorro Bowman tore his Achilles.
