DuJuan Harris tweet suggests he has been released by 49ers

The 49ers roster overhaul chugs along.

The San Francisco 49ers had a sizable rookie minicamp this weekend, bringing in 56 tryout candidates to go along with 18 UDFAs, 10 draft picks, and a handful of returning players still eligible for the minicamp. And it appears they have found some players they view as diamonds in the rough. Over the weekend, the team informed wide receiver K.D. Cannon he was being released. Today, DuJuan Harris posted on Twitter indicating he has been released as well.

The 49ers have not announced the Cannon move, and this is the first word on Harris getting released. The 49ers start there next period of phase 2 work today, which means they will likely want to get any new players signed to contracts before the practice begins. They could also get a waiver, but either way, I would expect an announcement fairly soon.

The 49ers drafted Joe Williams and signed Matt Breida to compete for opportunities on the running backs depth chart. They had signed DuJuan Harris to a one-year contract on March 28, but as Kyle Shanahan said during the draft, you’re on the team until the team is able to find improvement at the position. It would appear the 49ers have decided they have better options than DuJuan Harris.
