Elvis Dumervil is officially a 49er

The team made the official announcement that Dumervil will be heading to Santa Clara

San Francisco 49ers GM John Lynch tweeted the information a few days ago but the team just made the official announcement that pass rush specialist Elvis Dumervil will be heading to Santa Clara.

Dumervil was a fourth round pick by the Denver Broncos in 2006 where he stayed for seven years. He spent the next four seasons in Baltimore where he played with 49ers tight end Kyle Juszczyk. Over his 11 years in the league Dumervil has appeared in 146 games with 99 starts. He has registered as many sacks as he has starts as well as over than 350 tackles.

Lynch’s statement from the team’s press release:

Elvis is a proven pass rusher in this league whose credentials speak for themselves. We are ecstatic to add another piece to what we feel is shaping up to be a formidable defensive front.

Dumerville is a two-time Associated Press First-Team All-Pro and five-time Pro Bowl selection. He is a native of Florida and played collegiate ball at the University of Louisville.

The 49ers released rookie offensive lineman Evan Goodman from Arizona State to make room on the roster.
