49ers play Spikeball to close out OTAs

Minicamp is next week, and then the wait until training camp.

I live across the street from a park in Washington, DC, and virtually every weekend during the spring, summer, and fall, I see people playing a game with a ball and what looks like a little trampoline. It took me a while to learn it’s something called Spikeball.

Now, the San Francisco 49ers are introducing it at practice. The team wrapped up their OTAs on Friday, and they concluded with a fun game of Spikeball. You can watch the video above and see a host of players involved in it. Fingers crossed nobody suffers a stupid injury because of the game!

The team will return next Tuesday for mandatory minicamp. That runs three days, and will close out the offseason workout program. After that, the players will mostly go their separate ways until training camp. Players can stick around the facility, but it is the last break before the grind of the season begins. But at least they get to depart after some fun Spikeball!
