New 49ers quarterback Brian Hoyer was signed in the offseason because of the void at the position as well as for his experience in Kyle Shanahan’s offense. He will be the likely starter when the season begins and the offensive players will need his understanding of the offense to succeed. He is hosting a workout for them during their downtime before training camp begins.
Hoyer and 15 of his teammates are in Dallas staying sharp so there is no rust when they come back to training camp at the end of July. He is showing his professionalism by helping his teammates, even the quarterbacks that will be his competition, learn Kyle’s offense. He is a bridge QB until the 49ers find their franchise quarterback, but that is not stopping him from trying to help the team right now.
The valuable time they practice their passing drill will help tremendously. Kyle has worked wonders with every offense he has coached, and having an experienced QB at his side will hopefully help the offense pick up his scheme quickly.
