Former San Francisco 49ers running back Marcus Lattimore has been off the national and Bay Area radar over the past year, but he is keeping plenty busy. Sports Illustrated columnist Jonathan Jones put together a fantastic feature on Lattimore, catching up with his busy life in South Carolina.
Lattimore is currently the varsity football coach at Heathwood Hall Episcopal School in Columbia, South Carolina. He coached the middle school football team last year, and after helping out with the varsity team last season, he was named head coach in November. It is not a successful football program, but having a South Carolina legend like Lattimore will certainly help boost the program.
The feature bounces between Lattimore’s time at the school, and the many events during his time with South Carolina and the San Francisco 49ers. We get some of the stuff we’ve heard before, but it is a lot of new details. There’s nothing earth-shattering in the details, but Lattimore remains one of the more fascinating individuals to don football pads in recent years.
