The 2017 ESPY Awards show is taking place Wednesday evening, airing on ABC starting at 5 p.m. PT. Colin Kaepernick is going to be attending, although I don’t believe he will be presenting an award. I’m curious to see if he gets a chance to speak at any point.
The ESPYs are a pretty useless award show, although I suppose “useless award show” is kind of repetitive. That being said, sometimes an opening monologue will offer some reprieve. And few will ever match the monologue Norm MacDonald delivered at the 1998 ESPYs. The entire thing is worth a listen, but the best part is his OJ joke at the end. The looks on the faces of Ken Griffey Jr. and Barry Bonds are epic.
Does anybody here actually watch the ESPYs anymore? Today is the slowest day on the sports calendar. The MLB Home Run Derby was on Monday, and the All Star Game was on Tuesday. Baseball doesn’t return until Friday, so there is not a lot of sports to keep people occupied.
I’m spending my evening watching Burn After Reading, and whatever I can find on TV. What you up to?
