Kyle Shanahan adds offseason beard for QB camp with Mike Shanahan, Sean McVay

This was an impressive collection of counselors for young quarterbacks.

The San Francisco 49ers return for training camp two weeks from today, but that isn’t stopping players and coaches from honing their craft, or helping others. Kyle Shanahan is the latest, as he is taking part in a private quarterback camp in Southern California. Shanahan, his father, Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay, Rams offensive coordinator Matt LaFleur, and former NFL coach Jim Zorn are coaching high school quarterbacks at a QB Collective Event in Thousand Oaks.

QB Collective is a group that prides itself on, “connect[ing] elite athletes with the most brilliant minds in the game to help them achieve their greatest potential now and into the future.” They hosted a private two-day event that included film and classroom work followed by on-field workouts.

It’s kind of ridiculous the kind of coaching talent on hand to work with these players. I’m not sure which players were invited, but I have to think they’re some serious prospects. And getting a chance to work with two current NFL head coaches and an offensive coordinator, to go along with two former head coaches? Not too shabby.

QB Collective tweeted out some pictures from the event, and the highlight of it might be seeing Kyle Shanahan sporting some offseason facial hair. I’m guessing he’ll plan on shaving it, but in the meantime, he’s rolling with it.
