First round picks Patrick Mahomes, Jamal Adams sign rookie contracts

The 49ers have six days until training camp and Solomon Thomas remains unsigned.

The list of draft picks still unsigned as training camp approaches is narrowing down. On Thursday, the Kansas City Chiefs agreed to terms with their first round pick, quarterback Patrick Mahomes, and the New York Jets agreed to terms with their first round pick, safety Jamal Adams. Mahomes was the 10th overall selection, while Adams was the sixth overall pick.

That leaves five total draft picks unsigned. The San Francisco 49ers have not finalized a deal with the third overall pick, defensive end Solomon Thomas . The Tennessee Titans still have to sign the fifth overall pick, wide receiver Corey Davis . The Oakland Raiders are still working on a deal for their first round pick, cornerback Gareon Conley, and their second round pick, safety Obi Melifonwu. Finally, the Cleveland Browns have not signed their second of three first round picks, safety Jabrill Peppers.

The 49ers report to training camp next Thursday, July 27. Rookies and veterans all report to Santa Clara together, so a deal will most likely be finalized when everybody arrives. His absence from the offseason workout program due to Stanford’s academic calendar did not help matters. It could get done sooner than next week, but if I were to make a prediction, I’d say we see the official news on Thursday.
