Carlos Hyde has missed the 1,000 yard mark in his first 3 seasons. But it is doubtful that he is cut during training camp regardless of the reports. He has talent and is one of the better players on the 49ers. Kyle Shanahan will likely start him, but if Carlos isn’t producing, he could be pulled for one of the younger, talented backs behind him. Kyle’s offense has resulted in big seasons for running backs in the past and Hyde could benefit from it.

One 2017 draft pick is a full go for training camp. Reuben Foster, who rehabbed from a shoulder injury, is expected to be a full participant. He was held out of minicamp to rehab, but he is all the way back. He will be competing for starting job next to NaVorro Bowman. The 49ers are hoping that duo can help improve the defense. Foster had issues that dropped his draft status, but he was one of the best inside linebackers. If he is all the way back from his injury, he could make a major impact on the defense.

Another draft pick could actually miss some of training camp. The 49ers 1st pick in the 2017 draft, Solomon Thomas, remains unsigned just days before training camp. He missed spring practices because Stanford spring classes were still in session. With class officially over, he could practice with the team, but he remains one of the last couple of players drafted in the 1st round that is still unsigned. The longer he is unsigned, the likelihood of him missing a starting spot increases. Hopefully he is signed soon so he doesn’t fall too far behind. The 49ers are expecting him to be a stalwart on the defensive line.
