Ravens lose tight end Crockett Gillmore to injury

At some point they have to add another tight end.

Fooch’s update: The Ravens found a body

The Baltimore Ravens tight end depth chart continues to be ravaged by injury, with Crockett Gillmore suffering a knee injury on Saturday. Beat writer Jeff Zrebiec described it as “potentially significant,” but the Ravens are still determining the severity.

The Ravens have already lost Dennis Pitta to a hip injury and Darren Waller to a suspension. Baltimore’s depth chart currently includes Benjamin Watson, Maxx Williams, Ryan Malleck, and Nick Boyle. Watson and Williams could be strong tight ends for Baltimore, but Watson is coming off Achilles surgery while Williams had an unexpected offseason knee surgery. Both are in camp and practicing, but injuries remain a serious issue.

Gary Barnidge remains a potential veteran option, but I have to think the San Francisco 49ers will be in touch with Ozzie Newsome. John Lynch and Kyle Shanahan tried to trade Vance McDonald, and if George Kittle continues to impress, they might push even harder. I doubt they would get a lot in return for McDonald or Celek, but it doesn’t hurt to make a call.
