Anquan Boldin looking to sign somewhere right before training camp

Will we see him playing a 15th year?

The NFL free agency market still includes some intriguing veterans, and one of them is former San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Anquan Boldin. After spending three seasons with the 49ers, Boldin signed with the Detroit Lions last year. He finished the season with 67 reception for 584 yards and eight touchdowns. His eight scores was the third highest total of his career.

Boldin has reached a stage in his career where he is fine waiting through the offseason workout program and signing with a team right before training camp. A year ago, he signed with the Lions in late July. This past June, he said he wants to sign somewhere “right before training camp.”

There are a lot of teams that could use a consistent receiving threat like Boldin. He’s not going to be a regular game-breaking at this point in his career, but he is a great second or third receiver. Carolina, Baltimore, and New England are three teams that would all be a good fit for Boldin.

Boldin enters the 2017 season ranked No. 14 all-time in receiving yards and No. 9 all-time in receptions. If he signs somewhere, 30 receptions would move him into the top five all time. He has a decent shot at a Hall of Fame nod down the road, and topping off the counting stats with a potential playoff run somewhere might be enough to put him over the top.
