The San Francisco 49ers made a roster move on Sunday, waiving rookie offensive lineman Richard Levy. The 49ers signed Levy in May as an undrafted free agent out of Connecticut. He played one snap on Friday after seeing some tackle work during previous practices.
The 49ers rolled out 14 offensive linemen during their preseason opener. Guard Joshua Garnett was the only linemen who did not play. Here’s a look at the snaps for the offensive line:
JP Flynn: 76
Garry Gilliam: 59
Norman Price: 58
Tim Barnes: 52
John Theus: 51
Erik Magnuson: 41
Darrell Williams: 24
Andrew Lauderdale: 17
Trent Brown: 8
Daniel Kilgore: 7
Brandon Fusco: 7
Joe Staley: 7
Zane Beadles: 7
Richard Levy: 1
They lack a traditional third string center, which is how Tim Barnes ended up so many snaps. He plays some left guard and also backup center following the release of Jeremy Zuttah. We could see them add a body for the final three games, but they would seem to have enough options for the time being.
