Dontae Johnson, Brock Coyle removed from 49ers injury report

The 49ers welcome back a starter full-time, but a bubble player remains out.

The San Francisco 49ers released their practice participation report prior to their first joint practice with the Denver Broncos, and there is some good news. Cornerback Dontae Johnson (concussion) and linebacker Brock Coyle (ribs) have both been removed. They had been listed as “Limited - no contact” the past couple days.

Johnson was working as the starting cornerback opposite Rashard Robinson before last week’s concussion. He did not play on Friday against the Kansas City Chiefs, with Keith Reaser starting in his place. Johnson seemed to be closing in on securing the starting role, so this weekend’s depth chart will be something to watch.

Recent addition Sean Porter is the only new addition, as he is dealing with a quad injury. Ronald Blair remains out with a groin injury, which is not helping his roster chances. He was already on the bubble, and the more time he misses, the more likely it is he ends up getting cut.

Here’s the full report.
