Golden Nuggets: Bring on the Broncos

Your San Francisco 49ers links for Saturday, August 15th 2017

Week 2 of the Pre-season gets going tonight and there again is a lot of questions. Like will Kyle Shanahan really keep the offense for approximately 20 snaps? I’ll be counting.

More importantly, how will Hoyer do in this game. He definitely wasn’t anything to talk about, good or bad. Those 20 snaps will be very interesting to watch. But more importantly, how does C.J. Beathard do against the 2s?

Last week he did very well against the third stringers, given his inexperience. If that was a normal backup it wouldn’t mean anything—but it was a rookie’s first game. The dude was going to get clocked and still throws completions. You want to know someone who didn’t do that? Giovanni Carmazzi. He got nailed and according to former coach Steve Mariucci, that may have ended any chance of him being the hopeful successor to Steve Young.

Your legacy isn’t made in one game, but as a rookie, your legacy can be killed in one. I’m anxious to how Beathard does against some better competition. Hopefully he’s stashed away as QBOTF and we can see what he does in a couple years. I certainly hope he’s not starting this year.

As for the game, I will be on Facebook Live doing a “Holloway Halftime” during the Broncos game. Get in there, give me your impressions of the game or ask some questions. We had fun last week. Make sure you like the Niners Nation Facebook page while you’re at it.
