Niners Nation DOOM Index: You can’t escape the yellow flags, 49ers fans

The San Francisco 49ers had 11 penalties for 86 yards against the Denver Broncos on Saturday, and there’s no relief in sight. They had even more penalties prior to that against the Kansas City Chiefs. If there’s one thing a first-year head coach needs to get right, and early, it’s penalties, or lack thereof.

Until then, Shanahan is doomed. The 49ers offensive unit is doomed. The defensive unit is measurably less doomed, but still doomed. You, dear reader, are doomed and I, the writer, am doomed the most. The spectrum, though, is important.

How doomed are they? Last week, we took the pulse of the audience to determine how doomed the 49ers are following their preseason victory over the Chiefs, a victory that came on the back of C.J. Beathard’s excellent fourth quarter performance.

In the spectrum between Least Doomed and Most Doomed, 27 percent of people went with the option just above Least Doomed, or Kinda Doomed. Only 14 percent of people thought the 49ers were Most Doomed, while 26 percent of people thought they were Least Doomed.

So obviously, things aren’t looking as good now as they did after another ugly game against the Chiefs. The offensive line is a complete wreck, the running game can’t do anything and Brian Hoyer did that play that we won’t speak of again but will definitely link to in gif form in the poll of this article.

Now how doomed are the 49ers, 49ers fans? You yourselves are doomed, so you’re more than qualified to pass judgment.
