Eric Reid does Kaepernicking celebration after big hit in 49ers-Vikings game

Prior to the San Francisco 49ers preseason win loss over the Minnesota Vikings, safety Eric Reid took a knee during the National Anthem for the first time this preseason. He followed that up with a gesture for Colin Kaepernick in the first quarter of the game. He laid a big hit on Vikings wide receiver Adam Thielen, and followed it up by doing Kaepernick’s bicep-kissing celebration. You can see it in the video above.

I am not entirely sure what brought this new wave of activism from Reid. He had previously said he was not going to take a knee again. Last week there was a rally in New York City on behalf of Kaepernick, and it possible this is related to that.

There are several teams in need of quarterback help, but it is hard to see Kaepernick ending up on a roster by the time Week 1 rolls around. Various protests and demonstrations will likely continue into the season, but it is unlikely we see Kaepernick playing again anytime soon.
