It’s football day! The Arizona Cardinals and Dallas Cowboys square off in the 2017 Pro Football Hall of Fame Game in Canton, Ohio. The game kicks off at 5:00 p.m. PT, and will broadcast on NBC and NFL Network. You can also stream the game on NBC Sports Live if you have cable, but are not in front of your TV. And if you have NFL Game Pass, you can stream all the preseason games.
The highlight (or lowlight if you prefer) of this game is that most starters will not play. The Cardinals are sitting both Carson Palmer and Drew Stanton, which means Blaine Gabbert will start. This will be the second straight season Gabbert has gotten the start in his team’s preseason opener. Last year, Colin Kaepernick sat out due to a shoulder strain. Gabbert claimed the starting job, before losing it a month into the season. Only injuries to Palmer and Stanton would give Gabbert even a chance at claiming the Cardinals starting job.
I’ll have the game on at some point, but it’s doubtful I watch the whole game. And honestly, if I watch more than a half of it, i’d be surprised. I have some work to get done during the game, so really it will serve mostly as background noise. If you’ll have the game on, will you be paying attention the whole time, or have something else to distract you? If you just don’t care about the Hall of Fame Game, what will you be up to instead?
