49ers injury report: Brock Coyle out with rib injury, means more opportunities for Reuben Foster

The 49ers latest practice participation report has a couple new names dealing with injuries.

The San Francisco 49ers are back at practice Friday afternoon, and that means we get an updated practice participation report. There are not a lot of changes, but a few names worth noting.

Ahmad Brooks and Tim Hightower are getting a veteran’s day off. Now that we are a week into camp, it would appear veterans will get days off on a rotating basis. Yesterday, we saw NaVorro Bowman, Pierre Garçon, Joe Staley, and Jeremy Zuttah all get a rest.

Defensive tackle DeForest Buckner remains day-to-day with his ankle injury, as does safety Jaquiski Tartt with his rib injury. Rookie linebacker Donavin Newsom joins them as day-to-day with a neck injury. Cornerback Keith Reaser and tight end George Kittle continue to do individual but not team drills.

Brock Coyle is listed as out with a rib injury he suffered in practice on Thursday. Reuben Foster was promoted to the second team defense yesterday with Bowman resting, but got bumped up to the first team when Coyle got hurt. My guess is Foster will work next to Ray-Ray Armstrong in today’s practice.
