How nice was it to see football on TV Thursday? I don’t care if it was bad football, it was football, it was background noise. Good background noise.
It was also funny seeing Blaine Gabbert get the media attention. I do see the argument that he may be the replacement of Carson Palmer in a few years, but I also see him doing what he did in Week 1 of 2016—being pretty decent until Week 2 rolls around.
He’s in a new offense and they aren’t gameplanning him. There’s no way you can say he’s the answer in Arizona until Carson Palmer goes down and Gabbert wins several games. Yes several. Plural. As in, teams gameplan and he adjust to those game plans and still kills it. Because once they get the book of Gabbert out and learn all his nuances, he goes from Real American to Real Average.
This talk about Blaine taking Palmer’s job? Uh no. Maybe he gets the backup job, because he is a decent backup, but when he’s made the starter, it’s been shown time and time again teams get a sniff of his tendencies early and then it’s pick-city.
Oh but Arizona, if you want to start him, I really have no problem with that.
Onto the links.
