The San Francisco 49ers’ first preseason game is three days away, and with it we’ll start to get a handle on what the depth chart reaaaally looks like. The 49ers released an unofficial depth chart on Monday. It provides some interesting information, but it is assembled by the communications department, not the coaching staff.
On Monday, Matt Barrows put together some Instagram video of the offensive line running through drills with the tackling sled, showing us three versions of the line. I’ve embedded it below, but in the meantime, here are the three lines he saw. There were only four players taking part in the third team drills, and I believe that is because Tim Barnes would handle the center role. Andrew Lauderdale was the only lineman who did not appear to take part in the drill.
This is not during team drills, but rather just positional unit drills. Plenty can and will change, but it is an interesting jumping off point.
