A week of football is down, and today we get Week 2 underway. There was a Thursday football game last week, but the kickoff game is just a little bit different compared to the Week 2 Thursday Night Football game. This is our first “short week” game, which is when we can start to expect some less than stellar football. Recovering from a Sunday game can take all week, so having to play on Thursday is far from ideal.
This week, the Cincinnati Bengals play host to the Houston Texans on NFL Network. Later in the season, TNF games will air on CBS or NBC, but this week we don’t get that broadcast option. The game kicks off at 5:30 p.m. PT, with Mike Tirico and Cris Collinsworth calling the game from the booth, and Heather Cox on the sideline.

The Bengals opened as a three-point favorite, but the line quickly climbed in light of the Texans ugly Week 1 performance against the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Bengals are now six point favorites, with money still coming in on them. I think the Bengals probably win this, but I am picking the Texans to cover the spread. I wouldn’t touch this with actual money, but I’ll at least put my pick out there for the record.
