This afternoon, I scaled Lower Queen Anne here in Seattle, in search of some Seattle Seahawks fans to chat with about the game this weekend against our San Francisco 49ers.
What ensued was mostly me being out of breath as I trekked around searching for blue and green. Hilariously, I ran into nearly as many Niners fans as I did Hawks fans. I did find some, though, and the conversations that ensued were quite hilarious. Check out the video below (watch here if you don’t see it at the bottom of the article).
I even found two Cowboys fans! I don't know that I'll ever get used to one of our fiercest historical rivals rooting us on, but that's kind of where we are as non-Seattle fans living here.
The original intent of this was to maybe ask some questions that made folks look silly. Think: "Who was the last Seahawk to wear No. 80?" Turns out I didn't need to do that! Some of the answers I got turned out even better.
The first fan I came across was pretty cool and reasonable. The other Seahawks fans seemed pretty dejected, which is strange. For sure, their offensive line is bad and no one likes to lose the season opener. But eight points, on the road, against Aaron Rodgers? Overreaction city!
The two Niners fans I stumbled across were fun. The first, a lady who recently moved up here, was timid but proud to be rocking Niners gear. The second, a visitor who literally just got to town for the game, was super pumped to see red and gold!
It was a fun experience! Give it a watch and perhaps I'll do some more of these.
If you're coming up for the game -- or even better, if you live here -- check out the Seattle Niners Faithful Facebook page. You'll see all the events we have going on this weekend posted there in the events section.
We've got a big team-hosted rally at 11:00 on Saturday morning at Aston Manor, followed by our Airport Greeting. My favorite event of the year, we show the team some love as they emerge from the airport.
Then on Sunday, a pre-game party starts at 9:00 am back at Aston Manor. Those without tickets are welcome to stay for the viewing party which will be incredible! We'll have the game on 40 foot LED screens with premium sound.
All of these events are family friendly and completely free!
Seattle Niners Faithful president Alex Carson walks into the belly of Seattle decked in Niners gear! Let's see what fun he finds...
