Week 2 NFL schedule: Eagles-Chiefs, Cardinals-Colts among the intriguing AM games

We’ve got an AM game thread as we await the 49ers

The San Francisco 49ers are facing the Seattle Seahawks later today at CenturyLink Field, with kickoff set for 1:25 p.m. PT. In the meantime we’ve got some quality AM football matchups that will be worth a watch. There are eight games in the 10 a.m. slot, with at least three high on my radar.

The most intriguing game might be Eagles vs. Chiefs. The Eagles went into Washington and scored a big win, while the Chiefs went into Foxboro and thumped the New England Patriots. The Chiefs are a 5.5-point favorite, but plenty of folks think the Eagles can spring the upset. I think the Chiefs end up getting the cover thanks in part to Andy Reid having some extra time to prepare.

The Cardinals-Colts game is another interesting one. The Cardinals blew a lead in Detroit and lost David Johnson to injury. The Colts got thump by the Rams, and have inserted Jacoby Brissett as their starting quarterback. The Colts are a 6.5-point home underdog, but I think this game ends up a lot closer than people think.

Finally, the high scoring game of the day might end up being Patriots at Saints. I think this ends up being a track meet. The Patriots are six point favorites, and they are getting a lot of public money. It makes all the sense in the world that they thump New Orleans, but I just can’t get on the public bandwagon with this. I think New Orleans will give them some trouble.

Here’s the full schedule of AM games today. This will serve as our game thread.
