San Francisco 49ers safety Eric Reid left Sunday’s game against the Seahawks with a knee injury. He’s scheduled for an MRI on Monday, as noted by Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area.
After leaving the first time, he then returned to the game at the beginning of the third quarter. He hobbled off once after a player and returned ... only to go down again and leave a third and final time. He did not return after that, though he’s been described as having “tweaked” his knee at least three times against the Seahawks.
Jennifer Lee Chan had video of Reid’s postgame interview with the media where he talked about how the injury happened (he hates turf, if you didn’t know) and a bunch of other things. You can find it here or embedded below.
Reid switched from free safety to strong safety this offseason, and had decent performance in Week 1, though it was relatively quiet. Still, he’s probably the best defensive back on the team and any time without him is huge. Hopefully it’s not something significant.
