The Denver Broncos will be without backup quarterback Paxton Lynch for two to four weeks, and they are going back to a familiar face to back up Trevor Siemian. Cleveland Browns beat writer Mary Kay Cabot is reporting the Broncos will sign recently released Brock Osweiler.
The Brown released Osweiler after deciding to start rookie DeShone Kizer. The Browns acquired Osweiler from the Houston Texans in a salary dump by the latter. The Browns got a second round pick, and in return, picked up Osweiler’s $16 million salary guarantee. Osweiler will likely sign for at or near the league minimum, which will offset a small portion of that guarantee.
The Broncos quarterback situation has been a problem with Lynch struggling to show value as a recent first round pick. Siemian claimed the job, and with Lynch injured, it remains a mess. Osweiler has a pulse and is a better quarterback than me, so he has that going for him. Other than that, I’m not sure why he is still in the league.
