Brian Hoyer runs in 49ers first touchdown of 2017

The 49ers will not go a third straight game without a touchdown.

Hey, what do you know, the San Francisco 49ers have scored a touchdown! After two games and about seven minutes of Week 3, the 49ers scored their first touchdown of the Kyle Shanahan era. And I don’t think it came the way many people expected.

Quarterback Brian Hoyer had the team set up with a 3rd and 4 at the Rams 9 yard line. Out of the shotgun, he looked around for an option, but nobody could get open. Eventually he ran to his right and found a hole to get into the end zone.

Hoyer’s night got off to a horrible start, as he threw an interception on the first play of the game, and the Rams ran it in for a touchdown a play later. On the next drive, the 49ers could not convert a third down, but on the punt attempt, the Rams lined up in the neutral zone. It gave San Francisco a first down, and they moved down the field for the score. Hoyer was 4 of 5 for 30 yards on the drive, capping it off with the nine yard scramble for the score.
