Fooch’s update: He’s back in the game!

San Francisco 49ers running back Carlos Hyde is officially questionable to return to Thursday Night Football against the Los Angeles Rams. Sideline reporter Heather Cox reported that the training staff is checking out his hip and the official designation is questionable.

Hyde suffered the injury in the first quarter. He left the field, came back on to convert a third down, and then left a game. Cox said the training staff has been using some heat to loosen things up in his hip, so we’ll see how that takes. He has his helmet on and is standing up.

Matt Breida is the primary backup, with Raheem Mostert playing behind him. Mostert just coughed up a fumble in Rams territory. It’s safe to say the coaching staff is not happy with that. Breida has nine yards on three rushes and 16 yards on two receptions. The 49ers currently trail the Rams 14-7 late in the second quarter.
