49ers-Cardinals opening line, Week 4: San Francisco underdogs by a touchdown

The 49ers are winless and the latest odds say they’ll remain that way.

The San Francisco 49ers are 0-3 to start the season, and despite the Arizona Cardinals not having played their Week 3 matchup yet, we have an opening line for the Week 4 game between the two. That line has the Cardinals favored by six points, according to our friends at OddsShark.

That line shouldn’t change much regardless of what happens on Monday Night Football, at least in my untrained opinion. I’m not much of a betting person myself, but the Cardinals dominating or being dominated by the Dallas Cowboys wouldn’t really influence how I saw their matchup with the 49ers.

To me, that game depends wholly on whether or not the 49ers can get some serious production from their defensive line. Carson Palmer can be rattled, and his body is actually held together by various lengths of string, duct tape and prayer. The 49ers need Aaron Lynch, Solomon Thomas, DeForest Buckner and everyone else up front to get something done.

Either way, a six-point deficit in the opening line is about what I expected. It’s a game at University of Phoenix Stadium and the 49ers have already lost to their other NFC West rivals in the Seattle Seahawks and the Los Angeles Rams.

At the time of writing, one sports book tracked by OddsShark had moved the line to -7 for the Cardinals, and I’d imagine things will trend further in that direction.
