49ers assign new uniform numbers for rookies

The San Francisco 49ers cut down their roster to 53 players, and that means new numbers for some of the rookies and recent additions. The new numbers are as follows:

QB Nick Mullens - No. 4
RB Matt Breida - No. 22
RB Jeremy McNichols - No. 41
WR Victor Bolden Jr. - No. 17
WR Kendrick Bourne - No. 10
TE Cole Hikutini - No. 83
OL Laken Tomlinson - No. 75
DL D.J. Jones - No. 93
DL Xavier Cooper - No. 96
OLB Pita Taumoepenu - No. 55
CB Asa Jackson - No. 30
CB Ahkello Witherspoon - No. 23
S Lorenzo Jerome - No. 26

The 49ers assigned numbers to the rookies after they were drafted or signed as undrafted free agents. Due to the number of retired numbers, the 90-man roster usually has several players sharing numbers. Once final cuts are made, some players are re-assigned numbers that are available.
