The San Francisco 49ers took to the practice field in preparation of their Week 1 game against the Carolina Panthers. We’ve already talked a lot about it today, including the news that Jimmie Ward and George Kittle were going to be limited at practice.
But now that news is official, along with the news that defensive end Aaron Lynch was listed as a limited participant in practice as well. This is bad news for Lynch, a player who was considered on the roster bubble due to the sheer number of people ahead of him on the depth chart.
Seeing how much playing time Lynch gets early in the season is one of the things I’m most looking forward to, but if he’s missing valuable practice time, he might be a strong candidate for being ruled inactive for Sunday’s game.
Kittle has aggravated a prior hamstring injury and I wonder if he’ll see much playing time in Week 1. Previously, I expected him to get the bulk of the snaps, but hamstring injuries are so finicky.
Ward is also dealing with a hamstring injury and his status for Week 1 was already in doubt, so it’s no surprise he was limited on Monday. At this point I’m leaning towards it being more likely that Ward doesn’t play on Sunday.
49ers practice report:
Limited: TE George Kittle (hamstring), DE Aaron Lynch (back), CB Jimmie Ward (hamstring)
