An end of season look at the 49ers 2018 free agents

New, comments

The 49ers will be bringing back at least one of these guys!

NFL: Seattle Seahawks at San Francisco 49ers Sergio Estrada-USA TODAY Sports

The San Francisco 49ers’ season is over, and the front office is likely already looking ahead to March free agency. The team has 19 unrestricted free agents, one restricted free agent, and one exclusive rights free agent. John Lynch has said there have been discussions with some players, but there has been nothing completed since K’Waun Williams inked a three-year contract extension.

The 49ers get an exclusive window to negotiate with their windows until the free agency tampering period gets started on March 12. Free agents cannot sign with another team until the new league year starts on March 14, but if something does not get done by March 12, the market opens up considerably.

The 49ers have a mix of key contributors and random folks hitting the market. We can’t say much with certainty, but I’d say there’s a good chance Jimmy Garoppolo is back in 2018. The 49ers might simply use the franchise tag, but it will be enough to secure him for at least one more year. I think we see a contract extension get done, but until then, the 49ers have the franchise tag option.

We’ll be doing plenty of free agency discussion and predictions, but for now, here’s a full list of the 49ers 2018 free agents.
