49ers release statement on Reuben Foster arrest

It’s about what you’d expect

San Francisco 49ers v Los Angeles Rams

49ers linebacker Reuben Foster was arrested Friday evening in the state of Alabama for possession of marijuana and the 49ers were right behind with a statement regarding the charges as seen on a tweet from CSN Bay Area reporter Matt Maiocco:

“The San Francisco 49ers organization is aware of the matter involving Reuben Foster and we are currently gathering all relevant facts.”

We can all speculate about what will happen to Foster from a league discipline standpoint. Fooch put together a nice write-up last night of what could or could not happen. For an offense like this from a team perspective, the team will probably be having a chat with Foster and while they aren’t the same situation, bring up Aldon Smith as an example of what could happen if Foster doesn’t shape up.

Ken Norton Jr. was brought in to work on Foster’s play on the field in order to keep him on the field. Maybe Norton can help Foster stay on the field despite his activities off the field as well.
