Former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick is wrapping up the $1 million in personal donations he is making to local community causes. He has $100,000 left to donate, and Kaepernick announced on Wednesday that he will be announcing donations of $10,000 per day to various organizations over the next ten days.
On Wednesday, Kaepernick announced the first donation of $10,000 to De-Bug San Jose. He announced in a video that he is speaking with some of his friends to get an idea of what ten organizations should benefit. In the video, Kaepernick announced that Kevin Durant suggested De-Bug, and the Golden State Warriors forward will also donate $10,000 to the organization.
Warriors beat writer Connor Letourneau reported on Wednesday that Steph Curry is also going to join in with Kaepernick’s donations. Curry is donating money to United Playaz, an Oakland-based youth organization. My guess is Kaepernick will announce this donation in the coming days.
I’ll be updating this article with the remaining nine donations. In the meantime, you can learn more about the many causes that have benefitted thus far at Kaepernick’s website.
Fooch’s update: Kap has announced three more of his 10x10 donations, which have come from Jesse Williams, Snoop Dogg, and Serena Williams.
