The San Francisco 49ers have been on the receiving end of a lot of praise from the folks at Pro Football Focus this season, but not quite as much as some other teams. That changed in Week 17, as several 49ers players appeared in their Team of the Week.

On defense, both strong safety Eric Reid and cornerback K’Waun Williams appeared on the team, with the former earning a 96.6 grade and the latter a 90.2 overall grade.

They say that Reid did not miss a tackle in run defense, and had this to say about him overall:

49ers safety Eric Reid ended the season with his best and most complete game of the year. Against the Rams he had a team-high six solo tackles and four defensive stops, but he was also excellent in coverage, limiting the Rams passing attack to short gains that kept them behind the chains all game long. He allowed six catches, but they went for a total of just 21 yards, while he also had one pass breakup.

On top of that, they describe Williams’ performance as “dominant,” and credited him with minus-1 yards in coverage against the Los Angeles Rams. Reid is a free agent this offseason, but he played great football down the stretch.

Offensively, they list running back Carlos Hyde as the flex player with an 88.1 rating. They also listed three 49ers offensive linemen, surprisingly. The three were left tackle Joe Staley, left guard Laken Tomlinson and center Daniel Kilgore.

Staley has had an excellent finish to his season, while Tomlinson has struggled for much of the year. Kilgore has been mediocre as well, but all three seemed to play their best football in the final weeks of the season, and have kept Jimmy Garoppolo fairly clean for the most part.

Kilgore is set to be a free agent, so it’ll be interesting to see if he comes back or what the 49ers plan at the position.
