Good morning folks, due to some light traveling, it’s going to be a short edition of the Nuggets today. The vast majority of the selections today revolve around upcoming roster building during the 2018 offseason - and it seems universally accepted that the 49ers are in need of help on the perimeters (cornerback and wide receiver), interior offensive line, and perhaps most pressing, designated pass rusher.
The Matts (Barrows of Sac Bee, Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area) put together some quick statistical rundowns from the season, with Maiocco’s focusing on the offensive side of the ball BGE & AJD (Before the Garoppolo Era & Anno Jimmy Domini, respectively). I’d highly suggest taking a look through these, as it may change or fortify your perspective of some of our players (Carlos Hyde & George Kittle, specifically), as well as absolutely blowing your mind at how effective the offense became once Jimmy “Optimus Dime” Garoppolo was installed as the starting QB.
Lastly, a KNBR interview with Matt Barrows offered a very unsavory offseason possibility: pending free agents Carlos Hyde and Eric Reid defecting to the Pacific Northwest. Unfortunately, it seems like the kind of desperate roster move that could stabilize a free-falling Seahawks team, as they’ve experienced a long series of ineptitude at RB since Marshawn Lynch retired, and are faced with the possibility of life without their enforcer, Kam Chancellor. These moves would instantly improve their team, while depriving ours of homegrown talent.
