Golden Nuggets: Wild Card Weekend Wraps Up

An unfortunate side-effect of having a 5-game winning streak to cap a 6-10 season is that it can feel like we had a really great 5-game season that was tragically cut short, and now we get to watch other, better teams continuing to play. Worse than that, the positioning of our second round pick is tied to the performance of a very good New Orleans Saints team, and the better they do, obviously the worse our draft capital ends up. Sure, it can be a real joy watching their high octane offense doing the voodoo that they do so well, but this is draft positioning we’re talking here folks, is nothing sacred anymore?

Unfortunately, there’s nothing really newsworthy at this point with the 49ers. This weekend, however, marked the end of the NFC West’s representation in the playoffs, as the Rams dropped an ugly one to the Atlanta Falcons. Despite the lopsided loss, their offense looked pretty good, albeit unable to finish drives against a generally tepid Atlanta defense. There’s no doubt that the division will be running through Los Angeles in the future, as time and cap constraints have seemingly caught up with our rivals up north.
