Good morning (or good evening to our friends further on either side of the ponds) folks, it's another beautiful Thursday, and you know what that means. Another awful TNF game between two teams on a short week, and we get to explore the injury report for the 49ers.
To start things off, tonight's game is between the Broncos and the Cardinals. Both teams are fairly bad, sporting formerly-elite defenses that still show a modicum of promise, but have largely started to decline. The offenses of both teams feature a couple of high-end weapons, but neither offense has been particularly effective this year. Add in a short week, and we've got a recipe for quite a defensive struggle (read: snoozefest).
In other news, the injury report is a mile long. Alright, that's hyperbole, but it's legitimately at least 90 feet long. Aside from the reality that these are real people feeling real pain, it's almost comical that about a third of the team is listed as banged up in some shape or form - I've heard of snakebitten but this is just absurd at this point. There are a pair of links below, and I'd suggest taking a look for yourself, as most of our WRs, CBs, and OL populate said list. Obviously, most of them have remained on this list for several weeks and continued to play, but it's certainly disconcerting to see the extent to which this team is dealing with injuries. The one bright spot is that rookie Dante Pettis has returned to practice, albeit in a limited fashion.
Lastly, I'd like to send my congratulations to long-time Niners Nation contributor & media personality Jennifer Lee Chan, who has joined the incredible Matt Maiocco at NBC Sports Bay Area. She's obviously worked very hard to get where she is, and I couldn't be prouder to see a fellow NNer earn such a prestigious position.
