The NFL closes out Week 7 with a battle of last place NFC teams. The Atlanta Falcons host the New York Giants, with kickoff set for 5:15 p.m. PT on ESPN. Joe Tessitore and Jason Witten will call the game from the booth, with Booger McFarland serving as an analyst from the field. Lisa Salters continues her duties as the sideline reporter.
The Falcons were expected to be a playoff contender, but injuries have ravaged them, particularly on defense. They now sit at 2-4 and in the cellar of the NFC South. The Giants are 1-5, and very firmly the worst team in the NFC East. Their decision to stick with Eli Manning for another year netted them an impressive running back in Saquon Barkley, but huge issues at the quarterback position. If they lose, they will hold the No. 1 pick in 2019 NFL Draft heading into Week 8. If they win, the San Francisco 49ers will hold the No. 1 pick ahead the Arizona Cardinals.
Atlanta is a 3.5-point point favorite, according to sportsbooks monitored by Odds Shark. There was a ton of movement on this line, climbing as high as a touchdown. It’s come back down as some more professional money has come in on the Giants. I did not take them in the SuperContest, but if I had, it would have been at 5.5 points. I’m comfortable with the Giants at +5.5, and while I don’t love them +3.5, I’ll take the points with the hook.
