The New York Giants dropped a close one to the Atlanta Falcons on Monday Night Football, losing 23-20 after a fourth quarter that more than exceeded the ugly first three quarters of football. The two teams scored a combined 16 points in the first three quarters, and then exchanged touchdowns and field goals to the tune of 27 points in the fourth quarter.
The Giants dropped to 1-6 with the loss, and now hold the No. 1 overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft. They are tied with the San Francisco 49ers and Arizona Cardinals, but hold the tiebreaker due to a weaker strength of schedule. The Giants SOS is .481, the 49ers is .524, and the Cardinals is .552. The Oakland Raiders hold the fourth pick after a bye week kept them at 1-5. Their SOS is .545.
The 49ers travel to Arizona this weekend, then host Oakland on Thursday Night Football in Week 9, followed by a home game against the New York Giants for Week 10 Monday Night Football. I think we see the 49ers go 2-1 in that stretch, but it could be what makes or breaks their shot at the No. 1 overall pick.
