49ers-Cardinals fittingly set at pick ‘em

The battle for the bottom!

The San Francisco 49ers travel to face the Arizona Cardinals this weekend, and it is fitting that the game has been installed as a pick ‘em by most sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark. You can find lines with the 49ers or Cardinals as a one-point favorite, but the bulk of the lines have returned to even.

The 49ers and Cardinals are tied for last in the NFC West, and currently hold the second and third picks in the 2019 NFL Draft, respectively. The Cardinals beat the 49ers in Santa Clara three weeks ago, thanks primarily to five 49ers turnovers. The turnovers are just as much as part of the game as anything else, but if they can clear that up, this is one of the more games on the 49ers schedule.

This is a tough game to figure out. I’d like to take the 49ers in the SuperContest, but Byron Leftwich is a significant wild card. The Cardinals fired offensive coordinator Mike McCoy, and promoted Leftwich, their quarterbacks coach. This should improve David Johnson’s usage, but how much right away in the game plan is tough to tell. I’m going to wait and see, although I’m still leaning toward the 49ers as a SuperContest pick.
