Richard Sherman, Matt Breida expected to play vs. Cardinals in Week 8

The 49ers running back is expected to play at less than 100 percent.

The San Francisco 49ers face the Arizona Cardinals in Week 8, and they are expected to have a couple key players available. Cornerback Richard Sherman and running back Matt Breida are both expected to play after being listed as questionable this week, according to Adam Schefter and reporter Ian Rapoport.

Breida did not practice on Wednesday or Thursday, and was limited on Friday. He is not expected to be 100 percent, and Schefter said he is expected to be limited on Sunday. That likely means Raheem Mostert will have a busy day alongside Alfred Morris. Breida could end up surprising us, but we could see an even split of reps among the 49ers three running backs.

Sherman was limited on Wednesday, sat out practice on Thursday, and was limited on Friday. He said earlier in the week he was pretty sure he would play Sunday, but he is not sure if he’ll be able to play against the Oakland Raiders next Thursday on a short week. With the 49ers expected to have all their cornerbacks available, the question now is whether we see Jimmie Ward, Ahkello Witherspoon, or Greg Mabin starting opposite Sherman. Whomever it is will likely be plenty busy in Week 8.
