The San Francisco 49ers and Arizona Cardinals announced their inactives Sunday morning, and as expected, cornerback Richard Sherman is active and wide receiver Marquise Goodwin is inactive. Early Sunday morning reports had the expectation for those two, and this serves as official confirmation.
Cornerback Jimmie Ward is inactive after a Friday injury moved him onto the injury list as questionable. With Sherman active, this means we could see some rotation between Ahkello Witherspoon and Greg Mabin on the other side of the field.
Joshua Garnett is inactive after coming off the injury report this week. He suffered a dislocated toe in Week 1 and missed the past three weeks. He’s a healthy scratch due to lack of positional versatility.
D.J. Jones is inactive to give defensive end Ryan Delaire a chance in the pass rush. The 49ers promoted Delaire from the practice squad on Saturday, and clearly want to bring the heat against Cardinals rookie QB Josh Rosen.
The Cardinals will be without defensive tackle Robert Nkemdiche. This is a big deal for the 49ers offensive line. They have been inconsistent all season, and are banged up at tackle and center. No Nkemdiche is a big boost for the unit.
49ers inactives: WR Marquise Goodwin, WR Dante Pettis, CB Jimmie Ward, OG Joshua Garnett, DT Jullian Taylor, OT Shon Coleman, DT D.J. Jones
Cardinals inactives: QB Sam Bradford, RB T.J. Logan, DE Markus Golden, OL Jeremy Vujnovich, OL Korey Cunningham, OL Blaine Clausell, DT Robert Nkemdiche
