The San Francisco 49ers travel to face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 12, and as expected, they are underdogs for the matchup. The line for the game opened with the Bucs installed as field goal favorites, and it has climbed to 3.5 points at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.
Earlier this week, the Westgate SuperBook listed the 49ers as a five-point underdog in their lookahead line. The official line opened two points lower, likely due to the Bucs news coming out of their loss to the New York Giants. Quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick was a disaster, throwing three interceptions and getting benched in the third quarter. Jameis Winston came on and threw two touchdown passes and an interception.
It seems likely Winston gets the start against the 49ers, and I don’t imagine the line changes a whole lot. Considering the 49ers lost to the Giants last week, I’m not sure what would inspire people to lay sizable money on them. And while Fitzpatrick has had some upside this year, Winston still seems like the safer player who could be a little more consistent. This game could be an ugly one regardless.
