The San Francisco 49ers returned to practice on Monday, back from their bye and beginning preparations for Week 12 vs. the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The team does not have to provide a formal injury report until Wednesday, and head coach Kyle Shanahan will not be speaking with the beat writers until then.
In the meantime, however, the media were on hand for today’s practice and have some observations they will follow up on at Shanahan’s Wednesday press conference. The team was practicing without veteran wide receivers Pierre Garçon and Marquise Goodwin, according to NBC Sports Bay Area’s Jennifer Chan. Additionally, Kendrick Bourne appeared limited, according to Cam Inman.
The 49ers informed the media that Goodwin was excused from practice for personal reasons, per Eric Branch, and Garçon is still dealing with a knee injury. He sat out last week’s game with the injury. The next day, Shanahan said he anticipated the full 53-man roster being able to practice this week, but Garçon’s knee is still an issue.
We’ll find out more about the statuses of Garçon, Goodwin, and Bourne when Shanahan meets with the media on Wednesday and the team releases their formal injury report that day.
