Pierre Garçon seems unlikely to play on Sunday vs. Bucs

The San Francisco 49ers had a Thanksgiving day practice, and they were once again without wide receiver Pierre Garçon (knee) and offensive guard Joshua Garnett (thumb). Reuben Foster (hamstring) remained limited, while Weston Richburg (knee) was upgraded to full. The 49ers have one more practice on Friday before traveling to face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

It’s been a rough year for Garçon, and Kendrick Bourne would likely start in his place if the veteran receiver is inactive on Sunday. Bourne has started opposite Marquise Goodwin when Garçon has been sidelined. Prior to the bye, Bourne led the wide receivers in snaps against the New York Giants. Dante Pettis had a sizable workload of his own, and given the potential shootout nature of Week 12 vs. the Bucs.

Garnett is dealing with a broken thumb, suffered during a Week 10 practice and resulting in surgery during the bye week. General manager John Lynch said he should be good to go for Sunday, but if it’s anything like Trent Williams’ thumb surgery, he could miss two or three games.
