Golden Nuggets: Reuben has a new team

Coming off the bye, the 49ers had a rough game on the road against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. They lost to the Bucs 27-9 and gave up 14 unanswered points after bringing the score to 13-9. Most of the losses during Kyle Shanahan’s tenure have been close losses, but this time they were unable to keep up with Tampa’s offense. Jameis Winston torched the defense for 2 touchdowns and 312 yards. He was only sacked once on the day. In Nick Mullen’s 3rd consecutive start, he was sacked 4 times and intercepted 2 times. The offensive line had a tough time pass blocking and Nick was under duress for most of the game.

Matt Brieda and George Kittle continue to star for the 49ers. Brieda had 106 yards rushing on just 14 carries and added 3 catches for 34 yards. He is just under 300 yards away from a 1,000 rushing yard season with 5 games left. Kittle had 6 catches on the day and he continues to be the main weapon of the 49ers passing attack. He is just under 180 receiving yards away from a 1,000 yard season. He is doing this while catching passes from the 3rd different quarterback.

The biggest news of the weekend came on early Sunday morning when LB Reuben Foster was arrested for a domestic violence incident at the team hotel in Tampa. He was with the same woman that was involved in his domestic violence arrest in the offseason, but that time she retracted her statement. In a move that surprised no one, the 49ers released him before the game after giving him another chance. He was a risky pick in last year’s draft with his off the field issues, but the 49ers took a chance on him. He proved that he could not stay out of trouble and the 49ers made the right decision to part ways.
