The San Francisco 49ers wrapped up their first practice of Week 13, and wide receiver Marquise Goodwin remains absent from practice. Goodwin is dealing with a family issue that head coach Kyle Shanahan previously described as serious. We don’t know the specifics, but our thoughts are with him while he deals with whatever it is he is dealing with.
In the meantime, Pierre Garçon returned to practice, albeit in limited form. He has been dealing with a knee injury much of the season, which has resulted in Kendrick Bourne getting more playing time. When Garçon has sat, Bourne has started in his place. When Goodwin has been inactive, Dante Pettis has gotten work in his place. Pettis looked good on Sunday in place of Goodwin, so even if the veteran returns this week, Pettis hopefully is earning a longer look.
Center Weston Richburg sat out practice due to a knee injury that has been a problem dating back to Week 5. He suffered the knee injury in Week 4 and has been on the injury report ever since. It has only cost him one game, but it remains an issue that is likely part of the reason he is having a subpar season.
Here’s the 49ers full Wednesday practice participation report for Week 13. There are quite a few players listed as limited, but we’ll have to wait and see what it means for them the next two days of practice.
