The San Francisco 49ers went through their second practice of Week 15, and we saw some additions to the injury report, as well as some improvements.
On the negative side, the 49ers added three plays to the injury list as limited participants in practice on Thursday. Defensive lineman Ronald Blair (groin), and wide receivers Marquise Goodwin (calf) and Dante Pettis (foot) were added to the report. Last week, nickel back K’Waun Williams (knee) was added on Thursday as limited, deemed questionable on Friday, and inactive on Sunday. We’ll see what the final report brings.
Williams and edge rusher Cassius Marsh (concussion) were back at practice on Thursday in limited fashion after sitting out Wednesday practice.
Marsh was wearing the blue non-contact jersey at practice on Thursday, but it is an indication he is progressing through the concussion protocol. The fact that he was upgraded from DNP to limited means he was asymptomatic today. If he remains asymptomatic, he will likely be playing on Sunday vs. the Seahawks.
Williams was a DNP on Wednesday and upgraded to limited on Thursday as well. It is worth noting he was listed as limited last Thursday and Friday, but did not play on Sunday. If he cannot go, D.J. Reed would get the start in his place. Reed would compete at free safety with Jaquiski Tartt still sidelined with a shoulder injury, but if Williams doesn’t play, Reed will play nickel back, Antone Exum will play free safety, and Marcell Harris will play strong safety.
